You have to combine the state tax. CA top is 13%. I didn’t know it was 11% only on that top tier level. So, 60% on some money, around 50% on the rest. Still seems like quite a bit.

I understand 400k is a lot of money, but giving half to the government isn’t right, in my opinion.
