Breaking The Golden Rule of Internet
I was going to stay off the computer today, but I remembered it’s been a few weeks since I landed a love note into your email box thingy.
I hate to throw around the dreaded B-word, but I have been busy.
Busy with the online writing challenge I mentioned a few weeks ago.
Busy working on what will most likely be my next book 😎
The golden rule of the internet (and my least favorite) is that consistency matters above all else. You got to show up each day, every week, feed the need, publish or perish, them the rules.
But if you’ve been following this newsletter for a few years, you know I disobey this rule quite consistently.
I often go radio silent for weeks or months at a time. I’m trying to be more consistent with this newsletter, but I still want to limit these emails to go out only when I have something I really want to share.
Is that ok with you? Let me know where you fall on the Killer vs Filler email schedule.
This online writing challenge I’m doing is called Ship30For30, and it’s not easy. It’s been stretching my mind and my time, but I am getting a lot out of it.
The rule is you have to write and publish a 250-word essay each day. Today is Day 7 (and I’m writing this instead of writing that write now). Here’s my first essay. It shows why I joined the challenge and why I believe it’s so valuable for new and old writers alike.
(I love how each essay fits into this nice and neat little photo, which is great for sharing in different places.)
Ok, what else?
🔥 Books sale are strong. Thanks to those of you bought and shared the good word. There are currently over 650 copies of Productivity Is For Robots out in the world! Thank you!
Oh! I’m also recording the audiobook right now. Not sure when that will be out, but it’s a comin’ 🎙
📚 I’ve been reading exclusively fiction all year, mostly short story collections. I’ll recommend one of my all-time favorites that I’m re-reading right now. It’s called Jesus’s Son by Dennis Johnson. It’s considered one of the best and for good reason.
I’ll be sharing more of my Atomic Essays as they churn out. And if you’re interested in joining, I think the March cohort opens up soon. Email me and I’ll get you a referral link.
Ok, The Temperature is pretty, pretty, pretty good…
See you next week, probably ;)
